The protections we have in a union workplace

Your Weingarten Rights
As a union member, you have many rights! One is your right to representation. If you are asked to meet with a supervisor, and have a reasonable belief that the meeting could lead to discipline, a change in your working conditions, or any other adverse consequence, you have the right to request union representation.

In such a case, you may simply state:

"If this discussion could in any way lead to my being disciplined or terminated, or affect my personal working conditions, I respectfully request that my union representative, officer, or steward be present at this meeting. Without representation present, I choose not to participate in this discussion."

The Grievance Procedure
Our mission is to reaffirm our belief in the dignity, respect, and a voice in the workplace. One of our most important rights is the right to resolve problems through the grievance procedure. If a problem cannot be resolved between you and your supervisor, you have the right to request union representation.
